Kitchen Progress

Just a quick post to show the progress in our kitchen. More has been done since these pictures were taken, so hopefully it will be done soon. First a before picture:

Now the "in progress" pictures. : ) These were taken with A's phone so the quality isn't great. The old laminate is gone. The bar countertop is gone as well as the cabinets that were above the bar. The old lighting is gone and new lighting put in. The hole in front of the sink has been made.  Hopefully I'll have some more pictures of the most current progress soon.



Giving Back

I was thinking of ways to kick start my Mary Kay business today and I came up with an idea. What better way to start something new than to start it by doing something good with it. So from now until next Saturday (April 28) everything ordered off of my website, I will take 10% of the total sales and donate it to the OI Foundation. This way, I can get my business started, you (or your wives/girlfriends or your moms) get some new skin care or makeup, and the OI Foundation gets helped out in the process! If this goes well, I want to do this on a regular basis. Just click the Mary Kay link at the top of my blog to browse my website! I hope that this will work out to be a success! Help me to make it one!

Exciting Changes

I've already announced what's been going on lately on Facebook, but for those who missed it here's what has been going on!

I got my hair highlighted for the first time in about 8 years. I know that's not huge news to many but I'm excited about it so I'm sharing it! It's definitely a change and I love it. I had blond and red highlights put in. I wasn't sure about the blond at first but I'm so glad I did!

Now for my second and more exciting news. I am now a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant!!! I love makeup so I'm going to have so much fun with this! At the top of the blog I have included a link to my personal website. It has my contact information if you have any questions please please please feel free to contact me. As for house news, we are still in the process of sprucing it up! We are in the process of painting and will hopefully be able to start on the kitchen soon.

If you can't tell by the amount of exclamations points I'm excited about recent events! I'm so thankful everyday for the joyful days in my life and lately I've had quite a few! I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

The House!!!

I'm so excited. We closed on our house yesterday, and today we met the man who will hopefully be remodeling our kitchen. This may be my favorite part, making the house "ours", adding our own preferences to it. For the next couple weeks we will be probably be doing a lot of painting, fixing up the kitchen, and other little minor things before we move in. Here are the before pictures. I can't wait to share the progress!


  

Living Room - Getting painted. Future home of our piano. Aaron (and the at least 4 or 5 more guys that will have to help) will appreciate the short moving distance for the piano. : )

Kitchen - This is the main focus of remodeling. Hopefully we will be getting new countertops, new lighting, adding a opening above the sink into the family room and a few other little things.

Dining Area - Fresh paint and a new light fixture

Future Nursery - We will leave this alone for now. It will probably be the staging area for unpacked boxes.

Guest Room - Definitely getting painted

Master Bedroom - May leave alone, may get painted. I haven't decided yet. : )

Master Bathroom - Getting left alone for now as well

Backyard Pool and Deck...I'm afraid the broken basketball hoop left by the previous owners will not be staying. We are undecided on the pool. We'll keeping it for the summer to see how we like it.

More backyard...Aaron's future knife shop is getting painted too. I'm sure our dogs will do some remodeling to the gardens whether we want them to or not. 

More backyard...Tree house and slide are staying, sandbox underneath is leaving as is the swing set. Also have a little fenced off garden area!

Another Song to Share

Another mommy of a snowflake angel just introduced me to this song and I just had to share it here almost immediately. It's probably a good think I didn't know about this song last weekend or I might have just sat and listened to it and cried. However it is a beautiful song and shares all of the emotions of someone that has lost a baby has felt. I hope it helps anyone going through loss.

Hopefully by the end of this week, I will have some happier blog posts coming. Due to delays beyond our control, we have not closed on our house yet, but we hope to do so this week. Can't wait to share pictures!
